Plain Talk About

A New Spirit

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, Thou wilt not despise.  (Psalm 51: 17)

And I shall give them one heart, and shall put a new spirit within them.  And I shall take the heart of stone out of their flesh and give them a heart of flesh, that you may walk in My statutes and keep My ordinances, and do them.  Then they will be My people, and I shall be their God.  (Ezekiel 11: 19, 20)

Cast away from you all your transgressions which you have committed, and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit!  “For why will you die, O house of Israel?  For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies,” declares the Lord God, “Therefore, repent and live.”  (Ezekiel 18: 31, 32)

Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols.  Moreover I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.  And I will put my Spirit within you and cause you to walk in my statutes, and you will be careful to observe my ordinances.  (Ezekiel 36: 25- 27)

And it will come about after this that I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind; and your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men will see visions, and even on the male and female servants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.  (Joel 2: 28, 29)

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.  (Matthew 5: 2)

Then Jesus said to His disciples, ”If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.  For whoever wishes to save his life shall lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake shall find it.”  (Matthew 16: 24, 25)

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those that ask Him?  (Luke 11: 13)

But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.  (John 7: 39)

And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him.  (Acts 5: 32)

And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.  (Romans 5: 5)

For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.  (2 Timothy 1: 7)

But having the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed, therefore I spoke,” we also believe, therefore also we speak.  (2 Corinthians 4: 13)

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him.  (Ephesians 1: 17)

Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.  And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.  (Philippians 2: 5- 8)

For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!”  The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.  (Romans 8: 15, 16)

What do you desire?  Shall I come to you with a rod or with love and a spirit of gentleness?  (1 Corinthians 4: 21)

Brethren, even if a man is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a man in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, lest you to be tempted.    (Galatians 6: 1)

And that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.       (Ephesians 4: 23, 24)

We are from God; he who knows God listens to us; he who is not from God does not listen to us, by this we know the spirit of truth and of error.  (1 John 4: 6)

But He gives a greater grace, therefore it says, “God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.  (James 4: 6)

But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshippers.  God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.  (John 4: 23, 24)

Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor, not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer. Contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality.  (Rom 12: 10- 13)

Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things freely given to us by God. (1 Corinthians 2: 12)

But the one who joins Himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him. (1 Corinthians 6: 17)

Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and anointed us is God, who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our heats as a pledge.  (2 Corinthians 1: 22)

Now He who prepared for this very purpose (to be clothed with immortality) is God, who gave us the Spirit as a pledge.  (2 Corinthians 5: 5)

Brethren, even if a man is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, lest you to be tempted.     (Galatians 6: 1)

That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man; so that Christ may dwell in your heats through faith; and that you being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.  (Ephesians 3: 16- 19)

There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling.  (Ephesians 4: 4)

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by who you were sealed for the day of redemption.  (Ephesians 4: 30)

And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit.  (Ephesians 5: 18)

Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel.  (Philippians 1: 17)

Consequently, he who rejects this is not rejecting man but the God who gives His Holy Spirit to you.  (1 Thessalonians 4: 8)

But let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.  (1 Peter 3: 4)

May His word bless your life.
